Reverend Kenneth Wayne Huneycutt accused of molestation

Kenneth Huneycutt

December 26, 2008

KXII-TV

ADA, OK -- An Ada pastor accused of molesting two boys now claims his alleged behavior may have something to do with his blood pressure medications. Reverend Kenneth Wayne Huneycutt, 60, of New Hope Baptist Church, is charged with four counts of lewd molestation involving two boys.

Authorities say Huneycutt told Pontotoc County Undersheriff Joe Glover that the molestations began in the spring and occurred at least 15 times when the 10-year-old boy frequently would spend the night at his house and at least once when the 6-year-old stayed over.

Glover said in a probable-cause affidavit that on December 11, the last admitted contact with the boys, Huneycutt told them not to tell anyone about the acts and to keep it "their secret."

Investigators say it was a joint effort by the multi-disciplinary team that lead them to the pastor of New Home Baptist Church in Ada. Honeycutt is expected back in court next month. His charges could carry a life sentence.

Andres Enrique Cantu faces second charge after Santa list brings sexual abuse to light

December 16, 2008

By Jared Taylor, The Monitor

PHARR, TX -- A little girl's wish to Santa may have ended years of sexual abuse at the hands of an adult relative.

Andres Enrique Cantu, 55, was charged with a second count of continuous sexual abuse against a young child Tuesday.

The alleged years of sexual abuse by Cantu may not have come to light were it not for a 9-year-old girl's wish list to Santa as part of a class project.

Once the girl's teacher read the letter Thursday, she contacted Pharr police, which opened an investigation into the allegations against Cantu.

The first sexual abuse charge came Friday, after Cantu was arrested at Lamar Academy alternative school in McAllen, where he worked as a computer lab technician.

The 9-year-old wrote in the wish list for Cantu to "stop touching her and her sister," according to the criminal complaint in the case.

Police said Cantu had improperly touched the 9-year-old under her clothes several times since August 2004.

The charges brought Tuesday allege that Cantu also improperly touched the 10-year-old sister under her clothes several times since January, according to the criminal complaint.

The 10-year-old girl told investigators that Cantu touched her while she worked on her homework in her bedroom. She did not remember how long the incidents had been occurring, only that she was in a different grade in school when they began, the complaint reads.

It is The Monitor's policy to not identify victims of sexual abuse.

The lanky Cantu stood handcuffed in an orange jumpsuit Tuesday afternoon in Pharr Municipal Court.

Judge Rudy Martinez set Cantu's bond at $250,000 for the latest charge of continual sexual abuse against a child. If he is convicted, Cantu would be sentenced to between 50 and 198 years in prison for the two charges.

Cantu has worked for the McAllen school district for 11 years and has been placed on administrative leave, district spokesman Mark May said.

The charges Cantu faces were passed by the Texas Legislature last year as part of "Jessica's Law," which increased penalties against sexual predators.

"We see stuff like this almost every day," said Lt. Guadalupe Salinas, a Pharr police spokesman. "It's sad because of the time of the year, but usually a lot of outcries come through teachers."

Eddie S. Rollins Jr. pleads guilty to molestation charge

December 9, 2008

By Shawn McGrath, Herald (Indiana) Bulletin

ANDERSON, Ind. -- An Anderson man pleaded guilty Monday to child molestation for having sex with a 13-year-old girl earlier this year.

Eddie S. Rollins Jr., 18, Anderson, pleaded guilty to the Class B felony charge that carries a term of six to 20 years in prison. However, whatever prison time he receives will be capped at 10 years, according to an agreement with prosecutors. He will be sentenced in January.

According to a probable cause affidavit:

Police went to the home of Eddie Rollins and his father, 61-year Edward Rollins, in the 2200 block of Arrow Avenue at about 7:30 p.m. on July 23. Investigators suspected a man who robbed Discount Tobacco, 2625 Columbus Ave., was hiding at the residence.

Along with the father and son, a 13-year-old girl was also at the home and told detectives she recently had sex with the younger Rollins. The 18-year-old told police the girl was the sister of a 14-year-old girl he dated. Police said that he admitted to having sex with the younger girl and being aware of her age.

While at the home, police discovered a small amount of cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and suspected it belonged to the elder Rollins.

Prosecutors charged the elder Rollins with possession of cocaine and maintaining a common nuisance, both Class D felonies punishable by six months to three years behind bars if convicted. He is scheduled to stand trial in May.

Neither man was arrested in connection with the robbery investigation, and the suspect was not found at the home.

Eddie Rollins Jr. will be sentenced at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5, in Madison Superior Court 3. He pleaded guilty to child molestation on Monday.

Trial begins in sex abuse case against Patrick Donohoo

December 9, 2008

By Raul Hernandez, Ventura County Star

A 60-year-old man accused of sexually abusing three girls for more than a decade is on trial in Ventura County Superior Court. Patrick Donohoo, who has lived in Camarillo, Ventura and Santa Paula, has pleaded not guilty to 27 counts of lewd acts upon a child and one count of continuous sexual abuse.

"The evidence is going to show that Mr. Donohoo likes to molest little girls and he has been doing that for years and years," Senior Deputy District Attorney Gilbert Romero said, during opening statements in the trial Monday.

According to the prosecutor, the child molestations took place from 1995 to 2006, and the girls' ages ranged from 5 to 13 years. Romero said one victim was 4 or 5 years old when the molestation began.

Romero plans to put on testimony from other victims to show a pattern of sexual abuse of children. In an interview, he said prosecutors didn't file criminal charges against Donohoo for allegedly molesting the other victims because the alleged actions happened outside Ventura County or the statute of limitations has run out.

Donohoo's lawyer, Charles Cassy, reserved the legal right to make opening statements at a later time.

A 15-year-old testified Monday that Donohoo first molested her when she was in grade school when she spent the night with her cousin. She said he showed her pornographic movies. The molestation also took place at an apartment in Ventura, she said. She is scheduled to continue her testimony today.

Ex-karate teacher Paul Daniel Barr found guilty of molesting 13-year-old

December 8, 2008

By Mark Morey, Yakima (WA) Herald-Republic

Jurors came within one vote of convicting a former Yakima karate instructor of raping a 13-year-old girl, but they settled for a lesser molestation charge to avoid deadlocking, the panel's foreman said Monday. The jurors -- three men and nine women -- in the trial against Paul Daniel Barr announced their verdict Monday afternoon in Yakima County Superior Court.

Barr, 45, was convicted of two counts of second-degree molestation, which were offered as lesser alternatives to the initial child rape charges. A sentencing date was not set. Jury foreman Brian Goodell said jurors, who got the case Friday afternoon, had staked out their positions by the time they went home for the weekend. The holdout juror didn't change her mind despite repeated questioning by her colleagues, Goodell said.

"There's no way that he shouldn't have been convicted of rape," Goodell said. "I'm actually very disappointed in the justice system right now." The juror, whom Goodell declined to name, appeared to struggle with the idea that an older man could have raped a 13-year-old, the foreman said.

She also had difficulty with the timeline surrounding the allegations, which Goodell said was prompted by the way defense attorney Brian Connaughton phrased his questions about that aspect of the case.

Barr, now 45, was accused of fondling and abusing the girl in 2002 at the Yakima School of Karate, where he was an instructor and she was a student.

Connaughton countered that the case lacked corroborating witnesses or physical evidence. He challenged the girl's testimony, saying that her story changed multiple times and that her account of time frames was confusing at best.

Prosecution witnesses said Barr was often seen doing inappropriate stretching exercises with the girl. Another prosecution witness, who was then 16, testified that she had sex with Barr around the same time.

Connaughton said afterward that a new trial may be requested on appeal.

Deputy prosecutor Patti Powers said she was still calculating Barr's potential sentence, which includes special findings on both counts that he was in a continuing relationship with an underage victim and abused his position of trust.

In the other two pending cases, Barr is accused of possessing explicit pictures of two teenage girls who spent time at his house in Moxee, as well as taking indecent liberties with one of them. One had pictures of her taken in the bathroom, apparently through a hole or keyhole; the other girl was photographed while passed out after drinking. The girls told police they were between 14 and 16 years old at the time.

Ex-coach Jonathan Harlan White pleads guilty to sex offenses

December 2, 2008

By Victor A. Patton, Merced (Calif.) Sun Star

A former Los Banos gymnastics coach is looking at several years behind a different set of parallel bars, after pleading guilty to 15 counts of child molestation. Jonathan Harlan White, 29, entered pleas in Merced Superior Court on Monday for an illicit relationship with a 13-year-old gymnastics student at the Westside Academy of Gymnastics in Los Banos.

Prosecutor David Sandhaus said White's trial was scheduled to begin Monday, but the defendant decided to enter the pleas. The counts included lewd and lascivious acts with a child under age 14, sexual intercourse and oral copulation with a child under age 16.

Kirk McAllister, White's attorney, couldn't be reached by the Sun-Star's deadline.

The crimes took place at the school and White's home. White also wrote inappropriate letters to the victim, and he admitted to police that he had sexual intercourse with her, Sandhaus said.

White faces 19 years in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 16.

Sandhaus described White as a manipulative person who used his position as a coach to abuse the girl. "Coaches are in a position of not only trust, they are a big influence (in children's lives)," Sandhaus said. "We need to have people in place that we can trust, who will not sexually take advantage of children."

White will have to register as a convicted sex offender. The family of the victim contacted Los Banos police on Oct. 23 last year about an improper relationship between their daughter and White. He was arrested shortly afterward.

Leonardo Ramirez Lozano charged with molestation

November 27, 2008

Kristin M. Kraemer, Tri-City Herald

Bail is set at $200,000 for a 28-year-old Kennewick, Wash., man charged with repeatedly molesting two grade-school girls while watching pornographic movies.

Leonardo Ramirez Lozano pleaded innocent Wednesday in Benton County Superior Court to two counts of first-degree child rape.

Lozano, when asked by the judge if he's aware of the charges, said through an interpreter that he is innocent.

But prosecutors claim in court documents that after Lozano's arrest Nov. 17, he admitted to inappropriately touching the girls. His trial is Jan. 12.

Kennewick police were called last week when the sexual assaults came to light. Lozano allegedly was caught watching a porn movie with one of the girls.

Both girls told officers that Lozano had been touching them and showing porn for "a long period of time," and that he often would sexually abuse the girls together, court documents said. One girl said she was made to perform sex acts with him, documents said.

Earl Buchanan pleads guilty to child pornography

November 26, 2008

By Elliott Spagat, Associated Press

SAN DIEGO -- A man suspected of molesting children of his low-income tenants pleaded guilty to child molestation Wednesday, authorities said.

Earl Buchanan, 65, admitted in federal court that he produced a video of himself molesting a boy - believed to be 5 to 7 years old - in the bedroom of his home in Bloomington, about 60 miles east of Los Angeles, the U.S. attorney's office in San Diego said. He took the video to Arizona, Mexico and back to California.

Buchanan faces between 15 and 30 years in prison when he is sentenced March 2 for sexual exploitation of a child. He also agreed to forfeit his Bloomington house.

Prosecutors agreed to drop charges of kidnapping a minor and transporting child pornography.

Buchanan faces charges of child molestation in San Bernardino Superior Court. That complaint alleged he committed lewd acts with six children as young as 7 years old between November 1998 and October 2006.

Buchanan was arrested in July 2006 while crossing the border in Calexico, 120 miles east of San Diego, with a 5-year-old boy who was not related. Prosecutors said authorities found lubricants, condoms, children's videos and hotel receipts in his van.

It was unclear if the boy in the van was the child shown in the video. Alessandra Serano, an assistant U.S. attorney, said Buchanan did not tell prosecutors.

"I think it was the same kid," Serano said.

At the time of his arrest, authorities said Buchanan rented homes to low-income tenants east of Los Angeles, won the parents' trust and showered the children with amusement park trips, dirt bikes, clothes and video games. They said a search of his home turned up a warehouse containing a bedroom and adjoining children's room stocked with video games and DVDs of children's movies. Several children's U.S. birth certificates were also found.

Buchanan's attorney, Robert Boyce, did not immediately respond to a phone message.

Former School Principal James Kirkman Placed On Probation

November 26, 2008

WXII 12 News

HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. -- A former elementary school principal in Mount Airy recently was put on probation after entering a no-contest plea in a molestation case.

James "Jay" Kirkman, 63, was scheduled to go on trial for a second time in a Blair County courtroom on charges of indecent assault, corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children.

Kirkman, who was tried on similar charges in Surry County during the 1980s, was accused of fondling a boy, now 16, at a church in southwestern Pennsylvania in 2005.

However, Kirkman, who was the principal of B.H. Tharrington Elementary School in Mount Airy from 1975-80, opted to enter the no-contest plea before the second trial began. His first trial in June ended with a hung jury.

Though Kirkman had maintained his innocence heading into the second court proceeding, he opted to enter the plea, thereby avoiding a jail sentence that could have resulted from his being tried and convicted. Instead, the former Surry County resident was placed on probation for 12 years by Judge Hiram Carpenter.

Kirkman also was ordered to undergo a sexual offender evaluation. He is not allowed to have unsupervised contact with children who are related to him and no contact with other youths.

Three years after resigning from Tharrington Elementary in 1980, Kirkman was charged with four counts of taking indecent liberties with a child by the Surry County Sheriff’s Office. The former resident of Pinecreek Trail in Mount Airy was accused of molesting two brothers from a troubled family, the oldest of whom was 14, while they were living in Kirkman’s home in 1983.

At the time, he was operating a counseling service on West Lebanon Street.

Kirkman pleaded guilty in the Surry County case and served 13 months in prison before being paroled in 1985.

He eventually moved to New Enterprise, Pa., and took an administrative position as church counselor at Faith Assembly of God Church near Roaring Spring.

The most recent criminal case against Kirkman stemmed from alleged acts at the church between October and December 2005 while he was counseling another teen. At the first trial, the alleged victim told the court that "astor Jay" put his arms around him and fondled him while he was playing the church keyboard.

Also, the youth accused Kirkman of taking him into a prayer room, where he allegedly molested him and told him not to tell.

The prosecution said that one reason it agreed to Kirkman’s no-contest plea was that it prevented the youth from having to testify again. The boy’s mother said that his grades had fallen and he is now being home-schooled. He also fears further counseling because of what happened with Kirkman, she said.

Another reason for accepting the plea was that Kirkman, had he been found guilty by a jury, likely would have received the same probationary sentence, prosecutors said. They also said that the sentence given Kirkman essentially will prevent him from further counseling of youth.

A no-contest plea basically means that the defendant does not admit guilt to charges, but is not willing to fight them through legal proceedings.

An attorney for Kirkman said it was important for his client to stay out of jail because he wants to assist with handling health problems within his wife’s family.

The prosecution had attempted to introduce testimony at the second trial from Kirkman’s victims in the Surry County abuse case, now 37 and 38, who still live in North Carolina. However, the judge ruled against that pre-trial request, saying there were differences in the two cases.

Registered sex offender Earl Withrow accused of abusing girl

November 11, 2008

Columbia (MO) Tribune

Earl F. Withrow, 53, of 504 N. Garth Ave. was arrested yesterday on suspicion of first-degree statutory sodomy and sexual exploitation of a child. He remained in custody today at the Boone County Jail with bond not yet set.

Columbia police Sgt. Ken Hammond said police began their investigation in July after being notified of a hot line call to the Division of Family Services. Withrow was interviewed yesterday and made incriminating statements about the abuse, Hammond said. The first instance of alleged abuse occurred at a Columbia residence of a relative of the girl, Hammond said. The suspect and victim are not related but acquaintances through family members, Hammond said.

Hammond did not provide a timeframe for the alleged abuse, but he said it is believed to have occurred for months. According to state law, a person commits first-degree statutory sodomy if he is 21 or older and has "deviate sexual intercourse" with someone younger than 14.

Withrow pleaded guilty in St. Francois County in 1996 to first-degree statutory sodomy and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, according to court records. He is listed on the Boone County sheriff’s and Missouri State Highway Patrol online registry of sex offenders.

Valerie Faye Posey entered pleas of guilty and was sentenced by District Judge Tom Lucas to serve 20 years with 12 suspended for lewd acts with a child; and 10 years with two suspended for forcible oral sodomy, with the sentences to run concurrently.

The convictions requires she serve 85 percent of her sentence, or 6.8 years, before she is eligible for parole recommendation, officials said.

According to court records, March 22, the mother of the juvenile victim, found sexually explicit text messages on her son's cell phone, along with nude photos. The victim's mother contacted police, and officers arrived and observed more text messages indicating Posey wanted to meet the victim at a fast food restaurant at 12th and City Avenue in Moore. Officers went to that location and contacted the defendant, court records show.

In a subsequent forensic interview, the victim said Posey knew he was 13 years old when they met in January 2008.

Posey admitted meeting the victim the evening of Feb. 23, at Kelley Elementary School, and engaging in sexual acts on playground equipment.

Assistant District Attorney Rick Sitzman said Posey admitted knowing what she was doing was wrong, but stated she was "sexually attracted" to the juvenile victim.

Posey was represented by an attorney with the Oklahoma Indigent Defense System.

Pastor James Wilson faces kidnapping charges in molestation case

November 11, 2008

By Janet Morales, Moberly Monitor-Index

Moberly, Mo. - James M. Wilson, pastor of Terrill Road Free Will Baptist Church, has been charged with felony kidnapping in connection with a May incident in Boone County that led to his arrest for child molestation.

Wilson, who is also principal of the Terrill Road Christian School, was charged October 9 with second degree child molestation involving a 16-year-old female student of the school.

The incident allegedly occurred May 6 when, according to a Columbia Police probable cause statement, the girl’s mother dropped her off at a gas station near the Christian school in Moberly and she waited there for Pastor Wilson. Wilson allegedly picked her up around 8 a.m. and drove her to the Motel 6 in Columbia. The girl stated she and Wilson sat on a large bed in the hotel and watched cartoons. She said, according to the statement, that Wilson threw her onto the bed, took off her shirt and began to fondle her breasts. When the girl protested, saying they shouldn’t be doing it because he was married, Wilson stopped touching her and apologized. The two then returned to Moberly where Wilson dropped the girl off at the gas station at about 10:30 a.m.
The victim reported the incident on September 10.

According to Randolph County Sheriff Mark Nichols, Randolph County Prosecuting Attorney Mike Fusselman discussed the case with Boone County officials and decided there was sufficient evidence to support a charge of kidnapping against Wilson. Wilson was arrested Monday night and was released on a $100,000 bond. Wilson is not to have contact with the victim or anyone under the age of 18.

David Cross pleads guilty to enticing minor

November 10, 2008

The Examiner

BALTIMORE - A Middle River man has pleaded guilty to enticing a minor for sex and possessing and distributing child pornography.

Thirty-four-year-old David Cross admitted to federal prosecutors that he molested two prepubescent girls, including once at a swimming pool. He also had a document that explained ways to trick children into isolated places and encourage them to have sexual contact with adults.

In addition, Cross had images of child pornography on his computer that he had e-mailed to others.

He was caught after police got a complaint about the content of his Internet chats. An undercover detective posed as a 13-year-old boy and chatted online with Cross, who solicited sex.

Cross faces mandatory minimum sentences of 10 years for enticing a minor and five years for distributing child pornography. He could get up to 10 years for possession of child porn, plus supervision for life.

Raymond Sanchez to serve 12 years for molestation

November 10, 2008

Suzanne Adams, Miner Staff Reporter

KINGMAN, AZ - Raymond C. Sanchez, 47, of Kingman will serve 12 years in prison after accepting an agreement and pleading guilty Thursday to felony molestation of a minor.

Although Sanchez won't be sentenced until 3 p.m on Dec. 5, the plea included the 12-year sentence.

Sanchez was arrested in November 2007 after two girls alerted their parents to several incidents that they alleged occurred the same year.

He eventually was charged with five felony counts of sexual conduct with a minor and one count of molestation of a child.

In September this year, he accepted an agreement to plead guilty to one count of felony molestation of a child and one reduced count of felony attempted molestation of a child.

In October, Sanchez filed a motion to waive his right to an attorney and withdraw his guilty plea to the September plea agreement, but he later withdrew those motions.

After negotiations with the County Attorney's Office, a second plea agreement was offered, and Sanchez accepted that agreement on Thursday.

The new agreement dismisses all of the charges in the case except for one count of felony molestation of a minor.

The second witness in the case told her mother that Sanchez did not molest her, County Attorney Matt Smith told the court. The mother then notified the police and County Attorney's Office.

Former Preschool Teacher Brian Lane Gets 20 Years For Molestation

November 6, 2008

By TODD LESKANIC, The Tampa Tribune

NEW PORT RICHEY - A former teacher at a Hudson preschool today admitted to molesting two former students. Brian M. Lane, 30, of 7751 Deerfoot Lane pleaded guilty to attempted capital sexual battery and two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation. As part of a deal with prosecutors, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Lane molested two boys, 4 and 10, who attended Sugar Plum First Class Preschool in 2007-08. The Tribune does not identify victims of sexual crimes.

In June, prosecutors agreed to the plea, in part, because the victims' families wanted the case wrapped up as quickly as possible. In a statement to the court, Lane admitted he had done something wrong and needs help, but he said he isn't "a monster."

"People don't know me," he said. "They accuse me of different things, and it's not right."

Darell Johnston sentenced for child molestation

November 5, 2008

Casa Grande Dispatch, Florence, AZ

A 49-year-old Florence man was sentenced Friday to two years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of molestation of a child. Darell Wayne Johnston must serve the entire term, visiting Pinal County Superior Court Judge Christopher Whitten ordered.

Johnston also was sentenced to three years supervised probation to be served consecutively to the prison term. He was ordered to register as a sex offender for life, according to the Pinal County Attorney's Office. Numerous other similar counts were dismissed in the plea agreement.

Johnston was charged after the Pinal County Sheriff's Office started an investigation when a complaint was filed Nov. 24, 2006 by the mother of one of the victims.

Adult probation, in court records, stated that Johnston's actions are consistent with that of a sexual predator and that he has caused great harm to the victims and their families.

Police Say Derek Nixon Allegedly Attempted to Lure Young Children

Derek Nixon

October 29, 2008

LBReport.com

Calling information provided by the community "critical to the successful conclusion" of their investigation, Long Beach PD officials, joined by Mayor Bob Foster, announced the arrest of a Long Beach man who allegedly attempted to lure young children, and in one case, allegedly attempted a lewd or lascivious act on a child.

At a midday news conference at LBPD HQ attended by L.A. market media outlets, LBPD said that after it released home surveilance video of a suspect, Detectives received a tip on Oct. 24 from a citizen, responded to the City of Torrance and contacted, questioned and took into custody Derek Christopher Nixon, 26, of Long Beach.

"His vehicle, which matched the description of the suspect's vehicle, was impounded. A search warrant served at his Long Beach residence resulted in evidence being recovered," LBPD says in a release.

On Oct. 28, the L.A. County District Attorney's office filed one felony count of attempted lewd or lascivious acts and seven misdemeanor counts of annoying or molesting a child less than 18-years of age; the suspect is in L.A. County Jail with bail currently set at $240,000. The suspect is not a registered sex offender, LBPD says.

LBPD released home surveillance video and requested the public's help in ID'ing a suspect wanted in connection with four incidents involving the luring of children.

Asked how important the home surveillance video was, Sgt. Aaron Eaton of LBPD's Sex Crimes Detail told reporters that the home surveillance video was "a key" to their investigation because it showed a physical description, a hair style. There was more than one tipster, Sgt. Eaton indicated.

"During the incidents, the suspect made contact with unsupervised children, showed them pornographic material and attempted to persuade them into a nearby alley. When unsuccessful, the suspect drove away," LBPD said.

Sgt. Eaton said that in one incident (a felony count charged), the suspect "was able to lure a child away from an area where the child was playing, got her into a secluded area and then [allegedly] attempted to do harm to her."

LBPD says its Detectives have learned that an additional crime, believed connected to these incidents, occurred on August 11, 2008 in the area of 19th St. and Gale Ave.

Leslie Lynch arrested for alleged molestations

October 23, 2008

By Nate Poppino, Times-News writer

IDAHO -- A longtime Hagerman resident has been arrested and charged with molesting two young girls about 10 years ago, with more alleged victims possible, according to documents filed Tuesday in magistrate court in Gooding County.

Leslie Lynch, 69, has been charged with three counts of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child less than 16 years old, and one count of sexual abuse involving the same age group.

The lewd conduct charges each carry a maximum life sentence, while the sexual abuse charge has a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison. His arrest was the result of a joint investigation by the Gooding County sheriff's office and Hagerman police.

The charges stem from incidents in the summer of 1996 involving two girls, one 8 years old and her sister who was 11. Neither girl is related to Lynch, according to court documents. The Times-News does not publish the names of victims of sexual assault.

Lynch allegedly rubbed his body against the older girl's, had the younger one dance naked for him in his attic and had both girls touch his privates during a visit to a swimming hole near Hagerman.

The two victims mentioned in the charges may not be the only ones harmed, according to an affidavit filed by Gooding County Sheriff's Detective Gerlyn Walker. The document details alleged abuses to at least two more girls. All of the alleged victims said they were young and did not understand what was happening.

A third sister of the two mentioned in the charges said she recalled the abuse and was scared Lynch would stalk her if he found out where she now lives. A woman who alerted authorities to the possible abuse in 1996 said she herself was molested by Lynch in the late 1980s, and had another friend who hung out at Lynch's house. Both Walker and CARES, Children At Risk Evaluation Services, a child advocacy service, also interviewed a 6-year-old who said she was touched by and played a kissing game with Lynch earlier this summer.

None of the people Walker interviewed were able to identify photos of young children found during a search of Lynch's home in 1997. The pictures also seemed to be taken at the swimming hole, Walker wrote.

According to the affidavit, Lynch allegedly convinced the girls not to tell anyone about what he was doing by telling them he had killed someone once and buried them in a cement pit on his property. He allegedly offered them money several times, but then paid them less than promised or nothing at all.

It's not the first time Lynch has faced such charges. The county filed four charges of lewd conduct against him in 1997, but dismissed them before trial because their witnesses were too young to effectively testify, said Gooding County Sheriff Shaun Gough, the arresting officer on the first case.

The current charges are based around the same two girls, he said. And his deputies think they'll find more victims.

"We've been after him a long time," Gough said.

A quick search of state court records revealed several other cases involving Lynch. In 1998, he served six months' probation for accumulating junked vehicles on his property, violating a Hagerman city ordinance. In 2007, he was acquitted of a similar Gooding County charge. Also that year, the city again pressed charges over a zoning issue with Lynch's junkyard, but dismissed them when both sides reached an agreement.

Lynch is being held in the Gooding County Jail on a $500,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Oct. 30.

Two on sex offender list caught

October 23, 2008

Boston Globe

Two men on the state's list of Top 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders have been captured recently, cutting the number down to five offenders still wanted since the list was compiled in August.

In the latest arrests, one suspect was captured in Mexico, and another turned himself in to the Probation Department at Suffolk Superior Court.

Jelani Baker, 28, wanted by Somerville authorities, was arrested on robbery charges in Mexico City, and authorities in that country realized he was wanted here on warrants of failure to register as a sex offender, carrying a dangerous weapon, possession of marijuana, and lewd conduct. He is being held in New Jersey and expected to return to Massachusetts soon to face charges.

Baker had previously been convicted of indecent assault and battery on a child and lewd and lascivious conduct and was classified as a Level 3, or high-risk, offender by the Sex Offender Registry Board.

Another Level 3 offender, William E. Harvey III, 43, surrendered to probation officials on Monday. Harvey has been convicted of raping a child and was wanted for violating his probation and refusing to register as a sex offender. He was ordered held on $500,000 cash bail by a Suffolk Superior Court judge.

Baker and Harvey are the fourth and fifth offenders on the Top 10 list to be captured recently. On Oct. 10, Eric Conalty was captured in Texas after he was tracked by the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Unit. He was wanted on charges of committing unnatural acts with a child under 16 and failing to register as a sex offender.

Also on Oct. 10, Shayne Simpson, 48, turned himself in at Clinton District Court. He was wanted for violating conditions of his probation from a prior conviction of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.

Jaime Feliciano held on child-molestation charges

By Sandy Louey, Sacramento Bee

October 10, 2008

Sacramento County sheriff's detectives arrested the former president of a state workers union local Wednesday on suspicion of eight counts of lewd and lascivious behavior with a minor. Jaime E. Feliciano, 49, has been in jail since his Sept. 9 arrest on suspicion of child pornography and violating probation as a sex offender.

Feliciano worked at the state Insurance Department as a research program specialist until his Sept. 10 resignation, according to Darrel Ng, Insurance Department spokesman. Feliciano resigned from his position as president of SEIU Local 1000 Labor Council 784 in a letter he wrote from jail, according to Jim Herron Zamora, spokesman for SEIU Local 1000.

The union represents employees at various state agencies, including the Department of Insurance, Department of General Services, the California Highway Patrol and Department of Social Services.

Feliciano was convicted in 1993 of a lewd or lascivious act with a child under the age of 14 years old, according to court records. The September arrest came after authorities received a tip from Reno police that Feliciano had inappropriate contact with a juvenile there.

That tip was followed up by the High Tech Crime Task Force, which is led by the Sheriff's Department. A compliance check of Feliciano's home found thousands of pornographic images of children on his computer, according to a press release from the Sheriff's Department.

Video of an unidentified child being molested was found on the computer. Task force investigators spent hundreds of hours completing a forensic examination of Feliciano's computer and were able to identify the child, who is now 9, according to the Sheriff's Department. The child and the child's mother were located and interviewed, leading to the eight counts on which Feliciano was booked.

Molestation cases on rise

By Tiffiny Woo, Eufaula Tribune

October 10, 2008

Barbour County deputies state that cases involving child molestation have increased significantly this year. Chief Deputy Eddie Ingram said the department investigated three cases of child molestation last year. So far, they have investigated 14 cases in 2008.

Ingram believes the increased number of cases is due partly because more people are reporting these crimes. "I think more people are coming forth now because of an increased confidence in the sheriff's department," says Ingram. "I've spoken to two victims who have said they felt more comfortable with us working the case. They know we will investigate it and do what we can to stop the abuse."

All of these cases reported have been for children under 16 years of age, with some victims being as young as 1 year old. "The sad thing is that a lot of these victims are being abused by (a close family member)," says Ingram.

Ingram says the sheriff's department now has an officer dedicated to criminal investigations. "Sgt. (David) Morris does a good job of getting on these cases," said Ingram. "It's an asset to the department to have someone with his experience on the team." Ingram adds any crime committed against a child is given high priority at the sheriff's department.

A rampant drug problem in the county could also be contributing to the increase in these abuse cases, adds Ingram. He expects to see more of these cases as the economy continues to falter. The BCSO has made four arrests on child molestation cases this year.

Tristan Kennith Parmer, 18, of 28 White Oak Church Road was arrested in August and charged with felony rape second degree. Joseph Thompson, 42, of 4080 Lot 38 on Hwy. 431, was arrested in May and charged with felony rape first degree. William Samuel Evans, 39, of 35 Summerhill Road in Eufaula was arrested in August on two separate counts of felony sexual abuse first degree. Jessie Lenard Kelley, 23, of 204 Cottonhill Road in Eufaula was arrested in August and charged with felony rape second degree.

"Unfortunately, there haven't been any bogus cases out of all the reports of molestation that we've received," said Ingram. Several cases are still under investigation.

Donald Nitchman faces 456 charges of child molestation

By LEIGH HORNBECK, Albany Times Union, NY

October 6, 2008

BALLSTON SPA -- A man who breeds thoroughbred race horses in the town of Saratoga has been charged with 456 charges of child molestation.

Donald Nitchman, 48, allegedly molested three boys, each of whom was 13 when the alleged abuse began. The alleged crimes occurred between August 2004 and June 2008.

Nitchman was indicted Monday on four counts of sexual act in the first degree; 77 counts of criminal sexual act in the second degree; 83 counts of criminal sexual act in the third degree; 144 felony counts of sexual misconduct, one count of sexual abuse in the third degree; three counts of unlawful imprisonment; and 144 counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Saratoga County District Attorney James Murphy said Nitchman's alleged contact with the boys, now all in their late teens, came out when the first victim went to State Police in June. An investigation led to the other victims.

If convicted, Nitchman could be sentenced to more than 100 years in prison, Murphy said

"The enormity of the indictment is only paralleled by the effect the crimes had on the victims," Murphy said.

Nitchman, of 169 Haas Road, was arrested by State Police June 23. He is being held in the Saratoga County Jail without bail and will be arraigned before Judge Jerry Scarano at 9:30 a.m. Thursday. Nitchman is represented by Richard DeVall, who could not be reached for comment. The number at Nitchman's Haas Road property, Caladon Farm, has been disconnected.

Daniel Allen charged in child molestation case

October 04, 2008

Melissa McClendon, Pryor Daily Times, OK

Daniel Dale Allen, 33, Locust Grove was charged with two counts of lewd molestation, one count of rape by instrumentation, one count of sodomy and one count of enabling child sexual abuse. His arrest comes just one week after his wife Shawna was charged with five counts of lewd molestation and one count of enabling child sexual abuse.

Locust Grove police officer Karen Raith investigated the case and said Daniel Allen will be allowed to turn himself in to authorities before he is picked up by police. Raith said she suspects Allen’s attorney will surrender him sometime Friday.

His wife, Shawna, was arrested in Locust Grove last week. Raith said a family member contacted the police department and reported one of his children was a victim of child molestation.

Raith began an investigation and determined there were two potential victims. A search warrant was issued Wednesday, Sept. 24 on the Allen residence.

At that time, Raith said she conducted an interview with Shawna Allen. Raith said Shawna signed a Miranda waiver then confessed to the counts against her.

The couple’s four children were taken into emergency custody by the Department of Human Services.

Shawna had her initial court appearance Thursday, Sept. 25, where a $250,000 bond was set. She remains in the Mayes County jail. Her next court date is scheduled for Oct. 16.

Tim Ricks sentenced on sex abuse charge

Standard Journal

September 30, 2008

REXBURG, ID - Tim E. Ricks, 59, of Rexburg was sentenced Monday on a charge of sexually abusing a girl.

Ricks, who had previously pleaded guilty to the charge of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child under 16, was sentenced to a prison term of five to 20 years, but the court retained jurisdiction for 180 days.

Judge Brent Moss ordered that Ricks be taken into custody directly after the sentencing.

During the six-month period Ricks will be incarcerated at the North Idaho Correctional Institution in Cottonwood.

During the hearing Monday, the prosecution and defense disagreed on what the sentencing outcome should be.

Madison County Prosecutor Sid Brown said members of Ricks's family were present in court to show support for both Ricks and the victim mentioned in the charge against him.

Ricks was arrested April 9 after an investigation by the Madison County Sheriff's Office and was released a short time later on a $50,000 bond.

According to the charge against Ricks, the girl was victimized by manual to genital contact on numerous occasions from January 2001 until March 6, 2008.

Brown recommended penitentiary time for Ricks citing portions of the psycho-sexual evaluation that he said indicate that Ricks hasn't totally admitted to some sexual abuse, including that of a female victim about 30 years ago that he said was revealed during the police investigation.

Teacher James Hirleman arrested for alleged molestation

The Sacramento Bee

September 18, 2008

Rocklin police have announced the arrest of a veteran Roseville teacher for allegedly molesting a minor in 2001 and 2006.

James Albert Hirleman, 48, a seventh-grade teacher at George Buljan Middle School in Roseville, was taken into custody at his Roseville home late Wednesday night and booked on suspicion of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child, the department reported today.

Police Lt. Lon Milka said the alleged crimes occurred at a residence and not at Hirleman's school. He said no other victims have been discovered.

Police were at Buljan Middle School on Thursday to examine computers that Hirleman had access to, said Richard Pierucci, superintendent of Roseville City School District.

Hirleman started working for the Roseville City School District 18 years ago as a teacher at Vencil Brown Elementary School. He most recently taught technology at Buljan Middle School, where he worked for the past 10 years, Pierucci said.

Rocklin police detectives made the arrest after investigating information provided from a previous arrest of another person in a local case, Milka said. The detectives pursued the case with the cooperation of Roseville police and the combined efforts of the Placer County Sheriff's Department, the Placer County District Attorney's Office and a county special investigation unit.

Hirleman was booked into the Placer County jail in Auburn and is being held on $100,000 bail, Milka said.

Aaran Thibeault arrested on lewd and lascivious molestation charges

Ocala Star-Banner

September 17, 2008

OCALA - A man was arrested by sheriff's deputies Monday and charged with lewd and lascivious molestation on a 13-year-old, according to a Sheriff's Office report.

The girl told deputies she was at her friend's home about five months ago when she met Aaran Mathew Thibeault, 19. At the time, the girl said, she realized Thibeault liked her and he reportedly gave her stickers with the word "love" on them.

After that meeting, she said they began text messaging each other.

During the five months, the girl said there have been several incidents between the two. In one instance, she said they played the "rape game," where she would lay on the ground with her legs apart and he would lie on top of her, but there was no sexual activity between them during the game. She said they also played other games such as hide and seek, and that Thibeault kissed and fondled her.

Thibeault, who is married, denied having any sexual contact with the girl and said he didn't play any games with her.

He was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail.

Eugene Evans sentenced for molestation

San Jose Mercury News

09/17/2008

OAKLAND, Calif. -- An Alameda County judge has accepted the plea deal for a former Berkeley Sea Scout leader who molested boys on the troupe's boat.

Under terms of the agreement, 65-year-old Eugene Evans will serve six years in prison. The judge also ordered him Tuesday to pay $10,000 in restitution to his victims and register as a sex offender.

Prosecutors struck the deal with Evans in July. If he had gone to trial, he would have faced 18 felony counts for allegedly molesting three boys and showing pornographic materials to four others. Instead he pleaded no contest to two counts of child molestation.

Prosecutors say they sought the plea deal to spare the victims from having to testify in court.

Derek Thibodeau faces child sex charges

September 17, 2008

BY KAUSTUV BASU - FLORIDA TODAY

A 35-year-old Titusville man remains in custody of the Brevard County Sheriff's Office this morning following his arrest by a SWAT team.

SWAT team members served a search warrant at a residence in the 4100 block of Barna Road in Titusville and seized a computer and other digital storage devices, according to the sheriff’s office.

Derek Thibodeau now faces a slew of charges including 16 counts of online lewd solicitation of a child, two counts of lewd and lascivious exhibition, four counts of transmission of harmful material and failure of a sex offender to register e-mail address or an instant messenger screen name.

The sheriff’s office said Thibodeau was under investigation for nine months after he contacted an agent at the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office through an instant messaging service on the computer, believing that he was chatting with a 13-year-old.

Thibodeau solicited the girl to engage in sexual activity at least 16 times while also sending lewd pictures of himself, the sheriff’s office said. At times, he also used a web camera to transmit lewd images of himself, officials said.

The Titusville resident has been a registered sexual offender since Oct. 3, 2000, when he was convicted for using a computer service to solicit/lure a child. He had been arrested in 1994 for exhibition of sexual organs and prostitution, the sheriff’s office said. He is expected to be transferred to the Brevard County Jail, where he will be held on a $795,000 bond.

Orben Maniord arrested in teen sex case

By Rob Young, Appeal-Democrat

April 09, 2008

An Olivehurst man was arrested after allegedly admitting to a 17-year-old girl's family that he sexually abused her 10 years ago, Yuba County Undersheriff Jerry Read said Wednesday.

Orben Oliver Maniord, 51, of the 1600 block of Eighth Avenue, was arrested Tuesday at the Sheriff's Department on suspicion of kidnapping for the purpose of rape, committing lewd and lascivious acts with the girl, and making criminal threats.

He was being held Wednesday in the Yuba County Jail on $1 million bail. Maniord wanted to "come clean" by telling the girl's family about the incident, which allegedly occurred in Olivehurst. The girl then came to the Yuba County Sheriff's Department and confirmed it, said Read.

"I think he was trying to repent," the undersheriff said.

Maniord did not confess to detectives, he said.

According to the state Penal Code, Maniord can still be prosecuted because the girl was under 18 at the time of the alleged offense and is now under the age of 28.

Roy Jones gets six years for molestation

RYAN ORR, Victorville Daily Press

September 9, 2008

VICTORVILLE -- Despite testimony from his family, a 68-year-old Victorville man was sentenced Tuesday to six years in prison for bribing a 12-year-old girl with a purse in exchange for sexual acts.

Roy Dale Jones in July was convicted of two counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child and two counts of molesting children under the age of 18.

The abuse began in 2003 when Jones was living with his then-girlfriend and her 12- and 13-year-old daughters, whose names are being withheld to protect their privacy.

Jones' defense attorney, Robert Ponce, argued for probation instead of jail time, and called members of Jones’ family to testify about his character.

Jones was facing a maximum of 10 years in prison, but after hearing the argument from both sides, Superior Court Judge John Tomberlin sentenced Jones to six years, ordering him to serve at least 85 percent of the time, or about five years.

Jones himself testified before he was sentenced and admitted that what he did was not appropriate. That contradicted the testimony of Probation Officer Kim Wills, who testified that Jones actually blamed the victims, and because of that, he doesn’t feel he did anything wrong.

Molestation, child porn arrests made: 61 people held after investigation targeting sex offenders

By Paula Lloyd, The Fresno Bee

08/28/08

The message to child molesters who target Valley children is this: "You have to go through us."

U.S. Attorney McGregor W. Scott gave that warning Thursday as he announced the arrest of 61 people on child pornography and molestation charges.

He said investigators and prosecutors have seen a "profound change" in the sexual exploitation of children. "In the old days, we could lock our doors and windows to protect our children. Now sexual predators come electronically into our homes."

The investigation targeted known sex offenders because there is "an absolute connection between people who molest children and create and distribute child pornography," Scott said.

The arrests capped a monthlong investigation involving officials from more than 30 federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. The investigation was conducted between July 27 and Aug. 22 and was coordinated under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Justice Project Safe Childhood program.

Project Safe Childhood seeks to increase federal prosecutions of violent sexual predators and to reduce child pornography and sexual solicitation of minors on the Internet.

The program also seeks to teach community groups, schools, parents and children how to safely use the Internet and avoid online sexual predators.

Scott said 16 of those arrested have been indicted on federal and state charges and/or federal criminal complaints have been lodged against them, mostly for creating, possessing and distributing child pornography and for child molestation.

Most of the 15 men and one woman who were indicted are from the Valley, but one man is from New York and another from Michigan.

Forest Miles arrested on suspicion of sexual assault on two teenage students

By Jennifer Squires, Santa Cruz Sentinel

August 21, 2008

A former teacher at Empire Academy in Santa Cruz has been arrested on suspicion of having sexual relations with at least two teenage students, police reported. Forest Cascade Miles, 24, was arrested at his Santa Clara home Wednesday morning on suspicion of sexual assault and molestation. Miles no longer works at the school but taught both girls when the sexual assaults were said to have occurred, police spokesman Zach Friend said.

Police said they were tipped off to the alleged abuse in late July when the father of the 17-year-old reported his daughter was having a sexual relationship with her former teacher. The subsequent investigation revealed that Miles previously had been sexually involved with another student, police said. Friend said the other girl was 14 when the alleged abuse began, and that the relationship may have gone on for up to two years.

"We know that he had extended contact with the girl who's now 16," Friend said. "Our concern is there may be additional victims because he clearly has no qualms about contacting girls who are significantly underage."

Police served a search warrant at Miles' residence Wednesday and collected evidence, but declined to disclose what was removed from the home. Miles was booked into County Jail on suspicion of unlawful intercourse with a minor, lewd or lascivious acts with a minor, sexual penetration with a foreign object and annoying/molesting a child. His bail is set at $50,000.

Empire Academy is a private school in downtown Santa Cruz that serves grades 6-12. School officials were not immediately available to comment.

Records list lewd texts, molestings by pastor Darrell Gilyard

August 6, 2008

By Jim Schoettler, The Times-Union

She was a 15-year-old Jacksonville girl with behavior problems whose parents trusted their pastor to give her private counseling.

But details the teen gave to police about what she said happened in darkened rooms and elsewhere describes anything but help meant for a troubled child.

The teen's allegations of being molested and receiving sexually explicit text messages were included in 800 pages of records released Tuesday in three criminal counts against former pastor Darrell Gilyard.

The records also include pages of lewd text messages involving a cellular phone belonging to Gilyard and another teenage church member. That 14-year-old girl's initial texting to Gilyard led to a crude string of phone sex banter that is part of the criminal case.

Gilyard, 46, was arrested in January and charged with lewd and lascivious conduct on the 14-year-old girl. The case began when the girl's mother contacted police after finding some of the text messages.

Charges of lewd and lascivious conduct and lewd and lascivious molestation were added in March. The new charges involved the 15-year-old, who was friends with the other teen. Both girls said they had their encounters with Gilyard last year, well before he took a leave of absence and eventually resigned from the church as the case became public.

Not guilty plea was entered

Gilyard has pleaded not guilty to all counts and has been free on $5,000 bond since his arrest. His next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 3.

Former teacher Daniel Ray Metroka sentenced in molestation case

July 23, 2008

By SONJA BJELLAND, The Press-Enterprise

A former California School for the Deaf Riverside teacher was sentenced Friday to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to molesting two girls.

Daniel Ray Metroka has been in jail since his arrest on June 30, 2007. On that day, Metroka and his wife were baby-sitting the two girls, 5 and 7 years old.

"There are no words that truly describe the betrayal we feel," stated a letter from their parents read by Deputy District Attorney Kelli Catlett. "Dan stole our children's innocence forever."

In the letter, the parents requested that he identify any other victims who may be deaf and have trouble communicating.

"We want Dan to know we will never live in peace," Catlett read from the letter.

Metroka, 52, had taught at the school since 1997. He also signed as a volunteer interpreter at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in Riverside. The school is one of two state-run schools for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

On Friday, Metroka pleaded guilty to four counts of committing a lewd or lascivious act. Chained and in an orange jumpsuit, he signed the "I love you" symbol to his family and friends as he was escorted out of the Riverside Hall of Justice courtroom.

He was facing life in prison but struck a deal for a 20-year sentence, said his defense attorney, Stephen Harmon.

"This is a man who has led a very good life," Harmon said. "But on one evening he made a terrible mistake. I admire him for taking responsibility for that, and he will certainly pay a very high price."

Glenn Keeton pleads guilty to lewd and lascivious acts

By KEVIN FLAHERTY
The Morning Sun, Pittsburg, KS

July 21, 2008

COLUMBUS, KS -- Glenn Keeton pled guilty Monday to one count of lewd and lascivious acts and one count of failure to register, just minutes before his jury trial was set to start.

The possible sentence for the lewd and lascivious charge runs from five months to 17 months, while the failure to register comes with a sentence from 31 months to 136 months.

At Keeton’s sentencing, set for Sept. 16, the judge could decide to run both sentences concurrently.

The decision came as a bit of a surprise, at least to the more than 50 potential jurors who sat waiting in the court room as the attorneys and Cherokee County Judge David Rogers worked in a separate room, prior to jury selection. Those potential jurors, who were asked to report at 8:30 a.m., were getting a bit restless when Rogers came in at 9:15 a.m. to tell them the attorneys were going through preliminary details before starting. He said the hopes were that they could put together a jury by noon.

It didn't take that long to close the trial. At about 10 a.m., Rogers re-entered the room.

"You know the saying 'All dressed up but no place to go?'" Rogers asked the crowd. 'We've just reached a plea deal."

Rogers then told the potential jurors they could leave.

Nola Wright, assistant attorney general, said the situation "was not unusual" in a case like Keeton's. Defense Attorney Gene Barrett declined to comment.

Keeton was set to have two separate trials this summer, one this week for aggravated indecent liberties with a child and lewd and lascivious behavior. The second was set for Aug. 18, where he would have faced four counts of failing to register as a sex offender, Wright said.

Keeton’s charges stemmed from his ownership of Glenn's Ready, Set, Go, a Pittsburg gymnastics facility. He was arrested in June 2007 after officials heard testimony from a 12-year-old Cherokee County female.

Because of the age of the girl, Keeton’s aggravated indecent liberties with a child would have come with a sentencing between 55 months and 247 months.

This is the second time charges have been brought against Keeton for indecent acts involving a child. Keeton was found guilty in a California court in 1993 of one count of lewd and lascivious behavior involving his 10-year-old daughter.

Crawford County Sheriff Sandy Horton said Keeton registered, as required by law, in Crawford County when he established his business, but the state of Kansas did not place him on their public sex offender list because he was not published publicly in California.

California later passed a law making the sex offender list public, but because it was not made retroactive, Keeton stayed off the public list.

Christopher Lynn Koppe Faces 111 Child Sex Charges

WKMG

July 17, 2008

TITUSVILLE, Fla. -- A Titusville man accused in the sexual assault of a child is being held on a $3.7 million bond and faces 111 counts of sexual-related offenses.

Christopher Lynn Koppe, 40, was arrested Monday after he consented to a police interview at the Brevard County Sheriff's Office, said Cmdr. Stuart Otto of the Titusville Police Department. During the interview, he admitted to sexually-related contact with the child, Otto told Local 6 News partner Florida Today. Police said Koppe knew the victim.

Koppe is charged with two counts of committing a lewd and lascivious act upon a child under 16 years old, 104 counts of committing sexual act with a child, and five counts of sexual battery of a child under 12 years old. The sexual battery charges carry life prison sentences if convicted.

The girl approached a counselor at a summer camp and told about the abuse, which occurred over a seven-year period, Otto said. It escalated from lewd and lascivious molestation to sexual battery, he said.

Titusville police also conducted a search of Koppe's vehicle last week and collected related forensic evidence that is being analyzed now, Otto said.

Travis Prill charged with lewd behavior

By The Chippewa Herald

July 4, 2008

A 41-year-old Bloomer man has been charged with lewd and lascivious behavior and disorderly conduct after he allegedly exposed himself in Irvine Park in May.

According to the complaint: Travis Prill, 1320 17th Ave., Bloomer, was in the park in his truck on the evening of May 18.

A woman and her daughter had seen Prill drive around the park, and later found his truck parked next to their vehicle. When the woman approached her vehicle, she noticed Prill’s passenger side window was open. She said hi and glanced into the truck to find Prill exposing himself.

The women wrote down a description of the truck and reported the incident to Chippewa Falls Police.

Police identified Prill as the owner of the truck. He admitted to being at the park and to exposing himself, however, he said he had exposed himself because he was putting cream on his psoriasis, which was acting up. An officer noted during an interview that Prill did have psoriasis.

The woman said she believes Prill intentionally exposed himself to her.

The police complaint stated Prill has a 1986 conviction for second degree sexual assault of a child, although that cannot be confirmed through online court records.

Prill is scheduled for an initial appearance July 15.

James Marzilli arrested on lewd behavior charge

Capital News 9

06/03/2008

BOSTON -- State Senator James Marzilli has been arrested on multiple charges, including lewd and lascivious behavior and resisting arrest, just weeks after prosecutors declined to charge him in another incident.

Lowell Police said the Arlington Democrat was arrested this afternoon after a brief foot chase. He was also charged with disorderly conduct, attempting to commit a crime, assault and battery, and obstruction of justice. He'll be arraigned tomorrow morning in Lowell District Court.

Prosecutors say Marzilli is accused of approaching a woman who was sitting on a park bench, making an "inappropriate comment" and attempting to touch her in a sexual manner. Marzilli allegedly gave police officers a false name when approached.

A woman in Arlington claimed last month that Marzilli touched her inappropriately, but prosecutors said there was insufficient evidence to charge the lawmaker.

Justin Sullivan sentenced to 45 months, given probation

By RICHARD PRIOR, The St. Augustine Record

Saturday, May 17, 2008

A St. Johns County man, whose confession to sexual battery was thrown out in 2006, pleaded to a lesser charge on Friday and was sentenced to 45 months in prison.

St. Johns Circuit Judge Wendy W. Berger also sentenced Justin Wade Sullivan, 20, to 10 years of sex-offender probation for lewd and lascivious battery on his victim, who was under 12 years old.

The judge warned him not to violate his probation. If he does, she said, he could face additional prison time.

Sullivan could have gotten 15 years in prison for the second-degree felony.

He was facing life without parole for the original charge of capital sexual battery on a person under 12.
