BRADENTON, FLA. -- A Bradenton man convicted of molesting a young girl was sentenced today to 25 years in prison.

Michael Douglas, 22, was found guilty of two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation on a child following a trial at the Manatee County Judicial Center.

Jurors found Douglas molested the child on two occasions when she was ages 7 and 8, said Assistant State Attorney Cynthia Santinello Evers.

The first molestation, which took place sometime from February 2006 to June 2006, occurred inside Douglas’ Bradenton home, Evers said. The other took place sometime from October 2006 to February 2007 at the child’s Bradenton home.

When he is released from prison, Douglas must participate in 25 years of probation, said Circuit Judge Janette Dunnigan.
